What is a USI (Unique Student Identifier)?
A USI (Unique Student Identifier) is a unique code given to every student in Australia who participates in nationally recognised training. It is a requirement for all students enrolling in vocational education and training (VET) courses, including those with the Australian College of Volunteering.
The USI helps keep a secure, up-to-date record of a student’s training achievements and qualifications, ensuring their learning is recognised across Australia.
Why a USI is Important
- The USI allows students to track all their training and qualifications in one secure online location.
- It ensures that qualifications are nationally recognised and easily verified.
- A USI is needed for enrolment in any nationally recognised course. Without a USI, the Australian College of Volunteering cannot issue a certificate upon course completion.
How to Create a USI
Creating a USI is simple and free. The process is as follows:
- Go to the official USI website at https://www.usi.gov.au/.
- Enter personal information, including the student’s name, date of birth, and contact details.
- After registering, the student will immediately receive their unique USI, which can be used for enrolment and certification.
Already Have a USI?
If a student already has a USI, they can provide it during the enrolment process.
If they’ve forgotten it, they can easily retrieve it via the USI website.
